3 FREE Must Read Nook Books

I know that I’m suppose to be finding different things that I can do on my nook besides read books, but I can’t help but to pass along this series by Nicky Charles. Nicky Charles has published three books titled The Mating, The Finding and The Keeping. I came upon these books a few months ago when I was checking out the Free Nook Books section on the B&N website, and I am so glad that I did!

If you have read and love all the vampire series out there, then this will also be a sure hit with you! This series is a paranormal romance about werewolves and how they find their mates and keep their secret. I don’t want to tell you too much about these books, as I don’t want to give the story away, but I will tell you that I downloaded and had all three books read within 5 days (that is with working full-time and running with my children…lots of late nights!). They are jammed packed with romance and mystery! If you haven’t already, check them out!

Bubble Birds 2.0 (Con’t)

I have to admit, I started playing this game not understanding it at all and I got extremely frustrated and gave it to my husband so I could fix dinner. While I fixed dinner my husband played away.  While we ate dinner, he played away. While I watched Eclipse on Showtime, he played away. I began to think I was never going to see my nook again, when he finally had to do something; I snatched it back!

I sat down to start playing Bubble Birds again, and again, I got extremely frustrated. Not because the app had technical difficulty, but because the user was having a losing streak and not liking it! After dying several times and having to start back at level one, I finally made it to level 13 and beat my husband’s top score! Of course, he couldn’t handle that, so he took it back, giving me time to update my blog on the app (so he says).

The concept of the game is to tap on the screen where you want the item in the nest to go so that it pops the most birds or other objects floating down the screen, but if they get to the bottom before you pop them all, you lose a life. The item in the nest is either a different colored bird or a different type of bomb and you want to make it hit the birds that are floating down your screen that match what is in the nest, so that it makes them pop. Then when you get towards the top, there is a key in a bubble and that is what you need to hit in order to get to the next level, that is, if you can get to it before you die! There are 52 levels to beat, and it starts back over at level 1 every time you lose all of you lives, so I think this will be an app that will take me an extremely long time to ever beat (especially if I never get my nook back)!

Bubble Birds 2.0 by XIMAD, Inc.

My sister texted me yesterday, after checking out my blog and told me I should review Bubble Birds.

I logged in to B&N and to my surprise there were 3 apps for Bubble Birds and she didn't state which version to get, so I decided upon Bubble Birds 2.0.

So, as I know completely nothing about Bubble Birds, wish me luck as I start the review process!!

Free Fridays at Barnes & Noble

I'm not sure how many Barnes & Noble Nook owners are aware of a great blog that B&N has known as Free Fridays, but every Friday they post a book that is FREE just for that day. I've been visiting this blog for the last few months and downloading my free book and so far, most of them have been pretty good. But hey, even if they're not that good, what are you out? $0...That's right...Nothing
So, check it out at:

Creating My Bucket List with Jimbi's Bucket List App

This Bucket List app by Jimbi is easy to maneuver through. The hard part is remembering all of those things you have wanted to see and do!

Tonight, I started working on the Travel category. Travel was preloaded with the following: (1) Visit Venice; (2) Visit Rome's Colosseum; (3) Visit Egypt's Pyramids; (4) Visit TajMahal; (5) Visit Great Wall of China; (6) Visit Grand Canyon; (7) Visit Antarctica; (8) Visit Machu Picchu (Peru); (9) Visit Eiffel Tower (Paris); and (10) Visit The Forbidden City (China).

I'm not saying that these are bad options for a bucket list, but I've already been to the Grand Canyon, so I'm not going to keep that on my list and the only other option that I liked was to visit the Eiffel Tower. So, I quickly removed all the preloaded travel ideas and started adding my travel ideas (not as quickly as deleting the preloaded ones!!).

My Bucket List - Travel

  1. Visit Tuscany
  2. Visit Niagara Falls (Ontario)
  3. Visit Napa Valley
  4. Visit Hawaii
  5. Visit Australia
  6. Visit New York City
I'm not sure if I'm done with the Travel section, but at this time I am drawing a blank! The good news is that I can check off what I get completed, delete one if I decide I no longer want to do it, and add as many as I want!

Next, I will be working on the Events category of my Bucket List! If you have ideas, let me know!

Bucket List Nook App by Jimbi

Ever since I've seen the movie Bucket List (2007) with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, I always say "that is going on my bucket list" whenever I see someplace or think of something that I really want to do. So, when I ran across the Bucket List app by Jimbi, I thought, hey what a great way to start keeping track of what I want to do before I die!

The Bucket List app comes with 7 different categories: (1) Travel; (2) Events; (3) Adventure; (4) Crazy; (5) Romance; (6) Purchase; and (7) Learning. Each of these categories are preloaded with popular things to do, but you do not have to keep these activities on your list. By holding your finger over an activity, you can: edit, delete, copy, move or duplicate the item.

Stay posted as I work through this app and determine what will be on my bucket list!

Toy Studio's Hangman Nook App

First, let me start out by stating that in no way am I associated with Barnes & Noble or any of the creators of these apps.

Toy Studio's Hangman is very addicting!

I started playing hangman directly after writing my first post and didn't put it down until now (a couple hours later). This app offers 3 levels: (1) easy game; (2) medium game; and (3) hard game. Each level gives you the category and 8 chances to choose the wrong letter, before you get hung. The graphics on the app are really nice as well, as it makes you feel that you are actually using a piece of paper to play; only it takes away the letters that you have already tried!

I played all 3 levels and I found them all to be challenging, but I would have to say, I think they got mixed up on the levels because I found the hard game level to be a lot easier than the easy game level. The easy games contained words/phrases/items that I had never even heard of or would never even think of! I mean who would ever think of DST for time, Yawl for boating, Mosque for buildings, or Urchin for friends? I know some of you are probably saying "well, I would you idiot", but the challenging words are what make this app interesting and fun to play!

The main page of this app also contains a "contact" button that provides you with Toy Studio's e-mail and links to follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook. There is also a "more games" button that allows you to check out other Toy Studio apps!

I would definitely recommend downloading this app to your nook color or tablet; if you enjoy hangman or a challenge!

Starting to Discover Nook Apps by Barnes & Noble

The first nook app that I will be purchasing and exploring for the next couple of days is Hangman by Toy Studio, LLC.
I decided to download this as my first app to check out because (1) I like to play hangman with my kids and (2) my husband and I played this on our entire 3 hour flight, only on his draw pad, manually drawing it. If I would have known about this app a couple of weeks ago, it would have been so much easier than coming up with different words and phrases of our own.
